I was wondering, on a Farmall H generator, what is the proper fix for new bearings? Do they install sealed ones now or do they still use the bearings that you have to oil? Thanks!

John - Many years ago I installed sealed bearings in both my 6 volt generators. Have never had a problem with 'em.

Incidentally according to my local starter/alternator shop, that sealed bearing is the same one used at the drive end of the venerable Delco 10SI alternator. (In the alternator application the bearings seem to last forever, while running at speeds that would spin the windings right out of a 6 volt generator.)

Both are available from bearing houses. Your choice. I'd use the oilable one and oil it.
