I posted a couple weeks ago about a broken govenor spring. Found one on ebay and put it in, was to long but put it in anyway in order to use the tractor. When you throttled up it would over rev. I got ahold of the correct spring in the meen time from a case/ih dealership. I even checked it against the broken one that came out, yes they are the same size. With the correct size spring in it is still acting up-over revving when moved past half throttle. Seemed pretty straight forward replacing it twice. Did I possibly over look something? I just don't understand how it can be so far out of wack. Should I just use my I&T manual and reajust the governor according to the instructions?

By all means folow the manual. And be mindful, if you adjust the governor high idle adjustment, you'll need to readjust the governor to carb linkage. Then go over it all again one more time.

You may to adjust the carb/gov linkage properly.

Had a buddy"s C swallow the thrust bearing, so we replaced the bearing set and the spring and still needed to adjust the linkage.

If you have the right spring, and have it apart anyway, why not go through it and replace the bearings and other wear parts. Then set it up by the manual. Should be good for another 20-30 years.

A Case/IH dealer would have, or could get the parts you need.
