Narrow front A

My son came across a Farmall A with a narrow front end, wheel weights on rear are cast into the hub. This is all by his words, and the seller combination, so therefore I'm a little concerned.

The clutch is stuck and tires are shot, metal is all there and needs paint. Engine is free, and that is all I know about it at this time.

I hate these --whats it worth questions, but here I am asking. I'm not into red very well and was unaware of a narrow front A. He did also say it was very simalar to our B other than you sit dead center of the tractor.

Any information would be just great, and he is expecting me to quote a price before he can get his wallet out, and he is the type that usualy gets his wallet out first, and then asks questions. Therefore the sooner the betterwith the replys. And thanks a million for helping me out in advance. the former NE IA Dave

Rom: It will be a B front bolster, C steering shaft would be on the wrong side.

A friend of mine has a junker Model A that has a narrow front end. I got a few parts off of it for my A. Ron

NE: I expect you have little more than a pile of parts. Some Bs have had the left axle extension removed for mowing. That doesn't put the operator in center though. Sounds like someone built a contrived contraption out of A, B and C parts. A lot more of that will bolt together than meets the eye.

A BIG Thanks to everyone, the darn kid has a cell phone with / camera. Now I'm here to tell you that no deer in NE IA gets past his camera or his bow for that matter, yet he never thought of taking a picture of something important like a old tractor. What is this next generation coming too?

At this point I still kinda question a few things, but will get a look one of these days.

Thanks again NE IA

Maybe one of those tractors built from 2 or 3 other tractors. Wheels from a B on a C etc. etc. etc. If I remember right both the A and the B you sit to the side just one has wide front and one has trike front and also the B is a lot wider then the A

When he says it is a lot like a B, except you sit dead center, that in combination with the narrow front makes me think of a farmall C. However, the part about the wheel weights cast integral with the hub..... geezo-beezo, that part of the description doesn't seem to go with anything Farmall.

It must be a after market misfit because the "A" was never made with a narrow front according to the books I have.

It's a conversion, not factory. The seller quotes the first price. From your description of the tractor, look somewhere else.

It is a B that has the left axel
extension removed to make a narrow
mower tractor. Heavy cast wheels were an option on a Farmall.
