From my previous post it was determined that this is a umbrella bracket, I just don't see how it works. Anyone have a photo of one installed on a H or M?

That umbrella bracket isn"t made for a H or M. It is made for a Ford 8N or similar. Have one identical to it on our 8N, from the Ford dealer, with the Ford logo on the umbrella.

There is no correct way to mount them. The beas way is far away enough to prevent the pole from getting in the operators way, while being sturdy and close enough to prevent the umbrella from being blown/viabrated off, and close enough to block the sun. JimN

Umbrella....it's cool in reply to neblinc, 11-15-2007 06:43:32
Neblinc,

Try Binder Books 503-684-2024. They are in Oregon, open 10AM-5PM PST.

Mike CA,

You very obviously have never spent days and days under a broiling Iowa sun cultivating or baling hay or pulling a bundle wagon for a threshing crew with your H. I have with my Dad's H and now 50 yrs later I enjoy my buggy-top umbrella on that same H...it's cool in more ways than one.

Thanks Bob!

I guess I still don't picture how those cross arms do anything as far as support.

WEEEELLLLL... they WOULD stabilize the umbrella mount IF there were bolted to something!

Sort of a generic deal... you have to figure out what works best!

I don't have a picture, but the umbrellas have a long pole on them. That pole slides down into that bracket that you have, and those clamps are then tightened down to hold the umbrella in any position that is the most advantageous to the tractor operator. Don't trash the bracket, new umbrellas are available, but I doubt you will find a new bracket like the one you have.

Mike, I cultivated tobacco for years in the boiling sun without one. Just creeping along in low gear at an idle and roasting my damn brains out. I finally bought an umbrella from TSC about 7 or 8 years ago, was the best 80 bucks I ever spent on my tractor. It was just like going out of the dark and into the light. I will never be without one again. Also good for those pop up summer showers we get here.

I bought a universal mount umbrella for my 706.
Finally figured a way to mount it.
The wind caught it one day and that was that.
Next time I get a buggy top.
