My ex uncle has a 504 farmall that he no longer needs. I am looking at picking it up. The motor is shot. Blows a head gasket after about 10 hrs of running. I am wondering what the good and bad things are about this particular machine. I am trying to get the whole package for one nice price. 5 ft snowblower, 10 ft offset disk, and wf tractor with loader. Thanks for any opinions.
Brad

One bad thing is the engine doesn't have sleeves.
This will require the block to be bored oversize unless it has been bored to the limit before. They used these tractors for mowing the firing ranges where I worked using large batwing rotary mowers. They were fitted with heavy armor plating
to provide protection for the drivers. These were all gas 504's. Most of the engines needed to be bored so most of them were sent to property
disposal and sold at auction. Back then they would only spend a certain amount on repairs since they kept repair records. Hal

Brad: Check out C-169 used in 300 or C-175 used in 350, both sleeved engines that will bolt in. You may have to modify fan, rad hookup and air filter.

An engine from a Farmall 350 might fit. I don't have firsthand experience though.
