Environmental disposal question

I'm a little ahead of myself, but I just thought about this. Once I get the engine on my '44 H going I'm going to add some coolant flush that is supposed to clean the crap out of the coolant system, including rust (we'll see about that) Once that's done I need to drain it. I can't just pour it down the gutter of my neighborhood... I'm sure it will be filled with nasty stuff. So, where do I dispose of it? The auto parts places have oil disposal, but I've never heard of water disposal before.

Just vinegar? Not a 50/50 mix or anything?

I've heard of people using vinegar, but I've never used it. I've heard people say to fill the radiator with vinegar, let it run for about an hour (if it runs) and drain it out.

just about any garage should have old antifreeze disposal. May charge you something to take yours but better than hanging your head in front of the EPA folks..... ..

You might see what it says on the can of flush. It might tell about that, OR call the local waste water treatment plant and ask them. They might just tell you to dump it in the toilet. If that dosen"t work , let me know. I have a friend who works at Crane NSWC in the treatment plant. They deal with some real nasty stuff on occasion and if a shop gets ready to dump a load they call the plant to get approval.

Do it right. Call your county health department and ask them where the nearest household hazardous waste drop off station is. They are usually located at or near the sold waste transfer station or landfill for your county/city. They will probably accept the material for free if it is properly packaged.
