Does anyone know where I can trade a Td14 engine for a Td 9?

I have a Td-14 engine that I can't use in my Td-9. I was hoping to get the engine in there but it obviously won't work. Instead, I was hoping to find a Td-9 engine. I'm not sure where I could find people for theses kinds of trades and was wondering if anyone knew a place or site for something like this. They both start on gas and then switch to diesel. I really want to get the dozer running so if I could get some help with this... that would be great.

Terry,

There are several places to find those engines. Parts are fairly easy to come by, since there are communities out there dedicated to the IH dozers. Go over to redpowermagazine.com and go to the forums. Construction equipment. You'll find someone there. You also might post on the IH engine forum same mag.

Terry, I got a gas start diesel engine with my SMDTA when I bought it several years ago. I thought is was a D264, it turned out to be a 9 series engine. It was painted yellow and I was told it came out of a road grader. I traded the entire engine to Bates for a bunch of farmall parts. It was complete from head to pan, clutch to fan. That was 3 years ago. Might be a chance they still have it.

My uncle has a couple of TD9 blocks/heads and various parts; I'll ask him if he's interested in selling any.

If you're not dead-set on an OEM replacement, several guys around here (Southeast Indiana) have dropped an inline 6 cyl GMC gas truck engine in TD9s without too much trouble. I might be able to get you a picture, as one of them is sitting in our pasture right now with a steering clutch out.

The WD9 tractor would have the same engine, and the McCormick 600 diesel and 650 diesel would also fit. Good luck in finding anything that will work as there were not that many made in the first place and most of what is still running is in someones collection by now. Likewise, the parts for these engines are equally difficult to find.
