You guessed it...a beautiful day here in MI and I have closed shop and am out working on the tractor. Lights are installed...well, still waiting for the PO to bring the rear light...and I thought I would put on the shutters I bought a while back. Shutters are pretty self explanatory as far as the actual shutter goes. I am having more than a little trouble with the monkey-puzzle control rod, though. First thought is, since someone made this tractor 12v will the rod even go past the alternator??? Then there is the air filter assembly, now that IS original and I don't see it going past that either! Is there a kind soul around who would snap me a picture of their shutter control rod so I can see how/where to run it? Anyone who can even describe it would be a blessing. Thanks!

I meant to say CaseIH. I've got a 8N also and you can get any diagram and part number at CNH for it. David.

Go to CNH website and pull up the shutter diagram. It might help? Looks like a straight rod crank. David.

Dave I can tell 100% sure that the rod will work just fine with an alternator. Reason I know is because the tractor I took them off of was 12 volts and had a dleco 10SI on it. Sorry its been to long since I sent them to you to be able to help you hook it back up

No, don't apologize. That and the response from Gene are good news to me! It has been a very difficult, busy couple of years here and I have had these shutters sitting around for at least 18 months waiting for me to get her running. This particular tractor only runs well when warmed so the shutters are going to be of use. Glad to hear they will fit. Just knowing that much will help me get them on.

Well, Dave, I loked at the parts diagram for the B and took a gander at my SuperC where I actually have shutters. Of course, the controls are different.

Where I think they're similar is that you route your control rod so that it passes under the air cleaner mounting bracket, not through it like you choke rod and fuel line. Then under the carb. On the SuperC, from there it passes behind the generator and above the support bracket and on forward under the generator belt until it connects up with the shutters. The drawing for the B shows the connection to the shutters at the bottom, so maybe this will get you into the neighborhood. If it all works except for clearing behind your alternator you may have to consider a longer belt and maybe a different length or shape tensioning bracket for the alternator.

Thanks! I put the shutters on the tractor, opened them all the way and then disconnected the rod and put the sheet metal back on. I am expecting my rear light in the next day or two and want to finish that part before the cold returns on Thursday. I'll have to just find a day and play with this....or maybe wait until the shows next summer and find a B with shutters. :-)
Thanks again!
