On these bullet shaped front lights and also on the rear "switch to red" light, is there a way to look at the light bulbs and tell if they are 12v or 6v? Different insides or perhaps a numbering difference that is standard? Don't want to replace bulbs if not necessary...not the cost but the time...and don't want to ruin any 6v bulbs that I could use later or give to a friend who could use them now. Thanks!

Some light bulbs say 6 or 12 volts on the back of them or on the side.

Thanks guys! Both very helpful. The bulbs on my desk right now both say 1133 on the bases so I did not waste my time getting new bulbs. I'll hang onto them for now and hope maybe the 2N uses these as it is a 6v system. If not maybe my next red tractor will be 6v. Been checking out the A, C, and the Cub. I'll put these responses in my archive for future use, especially if I get unmarked bulbs.

I think the 1133 is pretty much standard for any six volt headlamp bulb. Should work in your Ford also.

Jims method is a good way to check, just be sure to use a six volt battery. A six volt bulb connected to a twelve volt source will be incredibly bright for a very short amount of time.

Also, look for the number 1133 on the base of the bulb. That number is correct for a six volt bulb. I don't know the number for the 12 volt.

Hook them in series (side base of one to center of the next) and apply 12v to the first bulb's center contact, and the side base of the second. If bright, they are 6v, if dim, 12v. If one bright and one dim, one of each, bright 6v dim 12v. JimN
