Well, digging around under the engine getting it ready to put an oil pan on, I found a hole right under the bell housing. Apparently there is supposed to be a cover there, because there are two holes on either side for bolts, I'm assuming.

Does anyone have a picture of the cover that is supposed to be there?

It's the cover plate to the right, as you look at the picture. I just got a new cover for the left part. The one where you mention the felt gasket is no longer available. I'm going to try to clean mine up. I'm may have to buy new felt I suppose.

No, I got that idea from these forums, along with plenty of other good tips from all the posters here.

First hole back from oil pan is the cover under clutch with a little spring loaded cover in it to get to grease fitting. If you look for one some early tractors were different than yours.

Do you think it is the clutch bearing access hole cover? See my pics of the belly pump removal, about half way down the page.

Mike,

Remember me telling you about the single front and the "lift" height of the cultivator?

That cover is right where that center shank would hit. Hit a large enough chuck hole in the road and that shank would bend the cover inwards and it would hit the coupler and set off a "ticking" sound in the tractor.

Would just drive ya nuts in a short while. Would imagine a lot of 'em got yanked off and threw in the iron pile.

If you look up there you will see the coupler for the Liftall. No big deal, the cover is 16 gauge tin and bolts right on with a paper gasket (if you think it needs one, make the gasket). JimN
