I am replacing some wiring on my 450 and ran into a couple problems. When I took the dash panel off I found one of the wires coming off the level you pull prior to pushing the starter button was not connected to anything. The other wires go over to the starter button. Also, Can anyone tell me what the purpose or function is of the rectangular small ceramic block that is located by the coil and distributor? It looks like nothing more than a connection point for a wire coming off the coil and another wire which goes into the wiring harness (I think). In tightening up the screw the ceramic block cracked and fell apart.

It's easier to use the correct coil and you won't have to put that resistor in there . 4 cylinder engines require a 3 ohm coil .

That may be your ballast resistor that drops the battery voltage to your coil. Hal
