I drove over tonight to look at the lineup for an upcomming auction. The fella has a 84 IH pull type combine, looks like it has always been inside, even the belts and tires look good, shows very little useage.I would like to buy it for our club as we harvest 10 acres of oats at our summer show.Any of you fella's know anything about the #84. I know this isn't the right site for this post but the sale is this week end.

Open the front cover right under the big IH decal. Look to see which cylinder it has. It could have a rasp bar style or the spring tooth style which was used primary for theshing beans of all type. Rasp bar cylinder works best for small grain. I've heard of guys using the spring tooth style for small grains too and seemed to work O.K. Other than that most bearings/belts you can still get from any case dealer. If you go to the case wesite you and view all the part diagram for the 82.

Good luck and have fun....

Matthew

It is an 82,it shows up in 150 years of IH,only info is that it was made 67 to 74. It was on the bill as a 84,when I looked it was so dust covered I didn't doubt the sale bill.

Hi r4etired: Ya mean a 64.? Those were made in mid 1950's. Our 64 was a good combine as I remember. Could get either a cub or C engine choice or PTO. The extra wide cylinder could get sprung outta shape if a stone was run thru it. Sounds interesting (even at 3AM as I write this) Wish there was one around here to check out. (Sw-Mn)
