We are looking at a Farmall 400 that is not running but is complete. It has a tricyle front end and has been sitting for over a year now. It is part of an estate sale in Connecticut. What should we pay for it, any ideas??

If the engine is free and has oil pressure when pulled or cranked, and the tires are usable, $1000. If you can't look that close, stay in the Vet's price range. JimN

Depends entirely on condition. Why is it not running? Is the engine stuck? Are the tires useable or worn out and weather cracked? Is the sheet metal straight, complete, with no dings or dents? Does it have the fast hitch, or just a drawbar? Live hydraulics? Power steering? Clutch good? TA good? Scrap price would be somewhere around $350 or so. If everything is good and it can be put in running order easily, maybe $2,500 to $3,500.

Not running and setting for awhile it could be the deal of a lifetime or it could be your worst nightmare and since we can not see it myself buying one sight unseen i myself would have a tough time given 600 buck for it .
