Is the resistor wire replaceable? If so, what is the resistance? I bought a brand new resistor indicator assembly. I guess I hooked it up wrong. As soon as I put power to it the resistor glowed bright red and burnt up in about 20 seconds. Can someone tell me how to hook up the resistor to the glow plugs? All of my glow plugs are new. Thanks

I guess we over thought the hook up and connected them in parallel. After I get a new resistor I'll change them to series. Are they self grounding or do I need to add a ground? Thanks for you help.

Hi G, the glow plug closet to the rad is grounded by a copper wire to a bolt in the front of the block.

Hi, if it is a BD154 Diesel the glow plugs are all connected in series. Usually one burns out and then they all will not work. Remember the old Xmas tree lights, same setup.
If the resistor burns out immediately then either someone hooked the glow plugs in parallel or the first or second one has shorted to the pre-combustion chamber. Have had the short occur but mostly burn out and none work.

Good luck

WHAT are we working on? Some of the tractors were set up with all the G.P's in series, some in parallel.

It is a BD-154 in a 3414 Backhoe.

Seems to me that would be one of the setups with ALL the GP's in SERIES.

Is that how you have them connected?
