Is there such a thing as a rear light that has a red and a white bulb or were they all made with a red lense that covered the white bulb? The one I have here on the M looks different than some I have been shopping around. Don't care to open it up on spec because it's old and it works and is better left alone.

OK guys, thanks for the info! I have a couple of options to go for on this last light for the B and want to make the best choice. The light on the M makes a good bright red circle on the back of the tractor and would like something similar.
Those night rides in the summer can be pleasant but I want to be safe.

Dave: Each of my SA, 130 and 140 are different but in all cases it is still a red lense over a white bulb. My SA and 130 each a bit different but in both cases a small light with red lense set into cone of main lamp. My 140 is sealed beam with red back and a white bulb behind the sealed beam. Basically all that happens with that one you switch off the sealed beam and the white bulb behind lights up.

Since I switched the 140 to 12 volt, I am not able to find 12 volt sealed beam with red back. I notice the newer 12 volt 140 s have separate red lights on each fender and flashers as well.

there should be a 12v sealed beam with the red back available. our 656 has one, as does another color tractor of ours. if you want, contact me and i'll research the bulb number.

I know of three common lights.
A clear lense with a white bulb and a red covered bulb. with a switch that selects one or the other.
A red lense with a white bulb (no good for seeing anything but the tractor from behind on the road)
and a white lense with a red smaller bullet light piggiebacked on the top. with a selector switch. JimN
there may be other styles

I've run across a couple that actually did have a red bulb instead of the white bulb with a red lens over it, but they were not of the style that is normally found on the older Farmalls, john Deeres or any other make. I strongly suspect that the odd lights were an aftermarket deal that was sold at stores such as TSC or maybe even auto parts stores.
