My pto shaft is tore up on the spline-do I have to split tractor to replace? I was told I do but it looks like it might come out the back if the housing bolts etc were removed. Thank you for any help my problem

Hey, Marty, give it another try. That's a picture I would like to see.

Thanks.

Louie

See link to picture I took as I was disassembling the transmission during restoration. This should help answer your question. Hope this works right. I'm not too experienced at photostuff.

If you have independant power just take the unit out and go from there. It does not need to be split.

Maybe the person who said you needed to split it was assuming that it would be the spline in the Pressure Plate. That would need a split to repair.
