My wife of many decades has always been very 'tractor tolerant' but I think she nearly 'lost it' today when I chopped a piece off her clothes drier to make a bracket for my engine stand. So what did you survive?
However I did pick up the most super bargain, a BRAND NEW crank for Farmall H complete with all bearings still wrapped as it left the factory. Just a little rust on fan pulley shank. $240 approx. A guy just had it laying on the shelf in his workshop MTF

My wife had trouble understanding why anybody would want to be around one of those smelly machines. But I had been looking for a tractor-mower combo to do a large area that we keep clear. Stumbled on exactly what I was looking for, bought it, told her not to worry about the price--I'd pay for it, and began to use it every week to keep the grass looking great. She is very happy that I have my new toy (it's 35 years old, and it's not red, so I'm not gonna tell anybody on this site what it is). Sometimes she says I'm a big kid, but I admit that, and she smiles when she says it.

I'm still trying to think what could be on a clothes dryer that you would need for an engine stand?

Just in case my initial comments were a bit confusing. This is not a seriously expensive polished white home appliance. It is a 6 foot high frame with bars on it to hang clothes on for drying. I cut the bottom 2" off one of the legs. It actually stands fine and level on a brick. The white electric one? I think if I'd damaged that then ONLY having a steering wheel cut off would be a bonus. It was a 2" piece of steel pipe that I used to make a spacer MTF

Guess I'd better hide the hacksaw. Incidently clothes driers have gone up in price since the last one that I bought.

Mine has been extremely tolerant over the years. So much that i don't have a good story. Except for after the first ten, i found it was better to drag them in when she was gone. Then let them blend into the tree row or shed. She later would come out and say "when did you get that one?" I always say "some time ago." Some time could be a year,a month, a week, a day, an hour..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..:^D

Them clothes driers don't need sheet metal on the back of 'em anyway!

I think if I did that to my wife I would find the steering wheel sawn off when I got back home.
