I am having an issue with a trickle charger I installed on my H that has a 12 volt conversion. When I plug it in it never stops drawing the trickle charge. So it is not really maintaining but running constantly and it never kicks off. I put my big battery charger on the battery it charges to about 14 volts and kicks the trickle charger off like I would expect. I remove the charger the volts drop to about 12 volts and the trickle charger kicks back on in a few seconds, never to turn off again I fear. Do I need a new battery? Or is something else wrong?

Thanks

Disconnect battery cables, then apply trickle charge and see what happens that way

Is that with the battery cables hooked up to the tractor or with the calbes off the battery?? If its with them hooked up pull one off and see if it still does that or if it works as it should. If it works then you have a small draw from the tractor if not then the battery is going south
