How can I tell of the difference between the Farmall H regular fuel and the All Fuel engine?

Second question is the H I am rebuilding has a cover over the exhaust manifold. I have never seen this before. Is this just a rare heat shield?

Thanks

My 40 H does not have a petcock in the carb. bowl. There is a plug in it,and my H is a distillate.Go by the serial number. Also is there a pony tank still on this H.Or is there a hole in the hood tin where the fill spout for the pony tank went thru.Check manifold for funny looking little lever, and another thing to check would be are there louvers in front of he radiator.

A Gasoline tractor has a drain plug in the carburetor bowl, and the all fuel models have a petcock in the bowl. A gasoline tractor serial number ends with X1. Manifold heat shields are pretty hard to find, I've seen them go for $100+ on eBay.

A heat shield on the manifold points to being a distillate tractor... if your serial number does not have a suffix, it would be a distillate tractor as well.

Also, you can check the head casting number and post it back here and someone will know if that is a gas or distillate head.

BTW that heat shield is worth some fair $$ on eBay...
