We are rebuilding the fuel pump on a F12. How does the diaphragm come apart from the push rod to be replaced?

There are at least two types that I've run into. One has little screws that come out from around the outside edges of the rubber diaphram and facilitates just it's removal and replacement. The other comes as a unit attached to the plunger.

I had to swap mine last year. Some are not intended to come aprt but they will.

I had to drive the center pin out of the locking piese and the diaphram with a press. Than I just cleaned the pieces up a little, put the new diaphram piece on. Than carefully drove the little ring onto the shaft with a small socket. than rapped on the top of the shaft to crush it down and lock that ring on. Be sure to get the ring down tigh otherwise it wont do much good.

Thats how I did mine and its still working for me. Hope this helps ya.

Not sure if I can help you. I took mine apart once, but that was about 15 years ago. At that time I couldn't find a diaphram and tried to make one. Anyway I parked the tractor, and that is why it is still parked. I need to fix it back up. Where did you get a replacement diaphram? If you dont get a good answer here, I do have a parts book at home. I will be there this weekend. you can e mail me.

Good luck, Gene
