300 utility Front Split

My 300 utility looks like it needs to be tightened between the engine and the transmission. It is sagging and I'm not sure where all of the bolts are that hold it together. Does anyone know how many bolts hold these two together, and how do I fix the problem? It is bad enought that I can't even start the tractor without putting a jack underneath the tractor to even it up.

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the advice guys. I really appreciate it. I think I have a better understanding of what is going on and am going to tackle the issue this weekend.

Take care.

one more thing...forgot to mention...I would not use it until it was fixed! You will need a lot more parts the longer you wait...I can't remember for sure, but I do believe you will have to pull the flywheel off. That is, if your internal bell housing bolts are the problem and not the external.

Hello,

Had the same problem once on my 350d. The "plate" that bolts to the engine came loose, not the cast bell housing bolts. So that meant splitting the tractor. I put in new grade 8 bolts and lock tighted them. Mine coming loose was a result of the previous owner doing a poor re-assembly job after putting in a T/A. I found many, many loose bolts on my way in there. My tractor was starting to "chatter" under much of a load due to the sagging in the middle. It sounded like a throw out bearing making noise when you pushed in on the clutch.

Hope this helps

The parts diagram (caseih.com) indicates 5 bolts 5/8X11X2" These would be the correct size where they are located in not clear in the diagram. JimN

I have a 300u but no experience with your problem. I would think if you make sure the starter isn't jamed in (if so, loosen the starter and get the drive gear back to the starter end), jack the tractor level, take out 1 bolt from bottom and 1 from the top, and purchase all new grade 8 bolts and lock washers and go around and replace all of the bolts. Get lots or torque on the new bolts. Hopefully none of the holes are stripped. Seems to me that the bolts on top may go in the opposite direction of the others so may also be different length.
For sure, I would want that fixed ASAP. Sounds like you must have parts not lining up and that would cause undesirable, excessive wear quick.
