I need shares for 14" #16 IH plow do you think somehow maybe I could have some made out of stainless steel? What about shins & moldboards? could I buy new ones and somehow modify them and make them work? I feel kinda stupid for asking, but I'm hoping someone can help. I don't have many options. Thanks!

Cube,

post some part numbers as they may still be available new. Some like the 3 bolt throw away share were also used by MF and are easily found.

If it's for show, polished stainless would be a good choice.

Stainless steel is just a name, it ranges from no harder than plain medium carbon steel to pretty darn hard. Real wear resistance comes from Manganeese Steel alloy. Hard to work with, and expensive. The steel in purchased wear surfaces is much better than SS that would be "workable". Tempered upper medium carbon steel is what is in the standard items, and it is tough enough to deal with rocks, wear, and economy. Just my thinking, but metalurgy is on the shelf. JimN

Hi Jim, If you have super chief bottoms you can buy them, I get them from my Case IH dealer. Or you can buy 16 inch and chop the heel off. Good luck, Chuck

Won't know unless you try it. Stainless is harder than steel, so it should last a little while.
Just make it so you can remove it easily in case things don't workout.
