Is the block original? The block could be a replacement from an Industrial 6 or T6. Or, it could be an Industrial M. Those usually had different rear wheel centers and an 'International' badge on the hood instead of the 'Farmall' name. Somewhere I have a photo of a yellow Industrial M, with the different wheel centers.

It was a Industrial Model. I'm pretty sure on that.

It is probably factor paint. Factory RED. That paint was bad to fade and after 60 years it is yellow or a real dull orange.

I've gotten parts for my H restoration that are yellow. No red on them at all. I'm sure it could have been painted yellow at the factory. The question is, do you want a yellow tractor or a red one?

Rusty Farmall has a tractor that has a yellow hood
and it looks nice with the red. It could be an M.
The military used a lot of tractors some were painted yellow and some olive drab green. Here a Fairway 12 used by the military that had red and yellow paint on it. Hal

I've heard of H's referred to as "Industrial H". Not sure if they had M's like that, and I'm not sure what the difference would be. Guy Fay doesn't mention them in his Letter Series book. However, IHC would paint a tractor whatever color a buyer would want as long as it paid. So if your M was sold as part of a work fleet, then yellow wouldn't be out of the question.

There were industrial models of the row crop H, not sure about the M, not talking about the I4/6/9 series industrials. I don't know all the differences in the row crop vs industrial -- wheels and axles were different for one thing.
