Hello....a fellow named Jim gave me some good information on repairing a broken shift shaft on the range trans..he talked about removing the MCV off the side of the trans..... .well..... .when you take off the MCV..... it has the pump attached to it somehow???.What I'm asking is....when I take the MCV off, do pieces of the pump and whatever else is there go flying , or falling all over the place???...Opening something that I don't know what is behind it scares me a little bit. any comments? .. and thanks for any responses..... ...ken

Just select "SEARCH for PARTS" link from the bottom of this page -
Link

Then search for your model number on the page that opens.

Hi Ken, I have never performed this procedure but looked in my I&T manual for 684 for MCV and Hydraulic pump removal procedures.
All Models Hydraulic Pump Remove and Reinstall:
1)Drain all compartments of Hytran oil.
2)Remove Hydraulic Filter.
3)Disconnect all lines to MCV valve, plug or cap openings to prevent dirt contamination.
4)Disconnect PTO linkage.
5)Unbolt and remove MCV and pump.

According to the I&T manual that is the how to remove MCV and pump.

From CIH parts site 584 Hydraulics page 10-01 it would appear the pump is bolted from the pump side to the MCV and the MCV and pump remove as one complete assembly.

Disclaimer: I have not done this procedure and do not know if it is as simple as the I&T manual claims.

Hi Jim again... I can't find the case international parts site you spoke of. I would assume you mean a web site? I'll keep looking, but if you have the time, could you tell me where it is. thanks so much, ken

it's good to be scared. It shows that you are gonna be careful in making your decisions.

at least have the i&t manual to reference. keep asking questions. you'll find out more.

if you still feel overwhelmed, it may be best to have someone else do it or at least pay (whatever terms they accept) them to teach/help you :)

good luck. sorry didnt' have technical info you need.
