Lift-all help

I finally broke down and bought a shaft seal for the Lift-all pump in my H. I was going to change it this afternoon but the shaft coupling is in the way. The IT manual calls for removing the pump from the reservoir housing and jambing the gears to unscrew the coupling. That seems like a lot of work...I was hoping to change the seal with the pump in the tractor. Does anyone know how to get the coupling off without disassembling the whole thing?
Thanks,
Ed

If you have a short 1/2 inch drive impact, weld a short piece of key stock in the end of a socket and the flange will spin right off. I have had good luck with this process on several tractors. If possibe use a large scocket that will go over the OD of the flange to keep the tool centered and from sliding off the flange

Well. I already tried Kirk & Cowman's suggestion with no success, so I guess the next step is to get some threaded rod and lower the pump. I'm glad this is not a yearly job!

You can try placing a foot long piece of square stock in the coupleing notch and then hit the end several sharp blows with a hammer so that you are turning it in a counterclockwise dirrection. If you are lucky it will come loose, if not, you will have to take the pump out.

Sometimes a sharp rap with a hammer and punch will start them unscrewing. Might be worth a try. It's right-hand threads.

I feel for you Ed: I had the same problem in a '52, and the only way I could do it was to drop the pump.
Maybe someone else will be more help.
