Hydraulics got weak and very hot while disking wheat stuble. Investigation reveals hydraulic fluid has migrated to oil pan. Checked oil and over a quart ran out of top petcock. Anybody know weather this is a (1) "o"ring install, (2)pump rebuild,or (3)look for a new pump situation? Anybody got a source of prompt pump rebuild/overhaul. It is the orginal style aluminum body pump. Thanks for the response. Dick Davis

If it needs the sleeve, the shaft hole has to be enlarged to get the sleeve through it. Best to have a machine shop do the work.

Put the engine at TDC for this action. (as outlined below in the other posts) The timing needs to go back where it belongs. Note the position of the rotor as you withdraw the pump, and make sure it ends up at the same place. It should be an easy fix. JimN

A quick ,easy repair is to remove the pump from the tractor. Take the pump to your local parts store and ask them for a "speedy sleeve" for the front shaft. It will be about $32. Remove old seal, install new seal, slide new sleeve on to shaft, and put it back on the tractor.
Done
Never done it myself, but I asked them about one once.

Similar thing happened on my 300 about 10yr ago (back when my memory was really good). I think there was a rubber seal with a metal collar that goes on the pump driveshaft and keeps the hyd fluid on the pump side. If that seal fails, then hyd fluid can get into the crankcase via the timing gear area. Case IH dealer ordered the seal, and the shaft was still good. Install was fairly easy since you can put the seal on from the outside of the pump after removing pump from the engine. If the shaft is too worn for the seal to work, then some of the other guys can hopefully explain how to put a bushing or similar fix on the shaft. HTH good luck
