I no I have a weak dead battery. But I also noticed that it sounds like she's not running her best. Almost like a slight miss. Would this be caused by having a low weak battery?

It may be coincidental ,but I had problems with my 300 not starting and running very rough with a low battery. It is a 12V and ballast resistor drops voltage to 6V to the coil. I think I had less than 5V to the coil. Couldn't get it to run worth a darn. Finally got a fully charged battery and it does run much better. I know at least one plug is weak and I may still need points, condenser and plugs to really get all the misses out. But what to you have to lose anyway? If the battery is weak replace it. Then go the rest of the ignition parts next as the other guys have suggested. No doubt you need good connections all through the entire ignition system.

If you have to pull start it then the battery might be weak enough to cause problems at low engine speed since the gen doesn"t put out much if anything at low RPM. Have the battery tested to be sure, but also clean EVERY connetcion on the tractor. all battery cables at both ends, all starter cables at both ends and check to see if the switch terminals get hot when starting. Clean all the terminals on the gen and regulator. The spark plugs need a good voltage to be able to jump the air gap on the plug. when the engine comes up on compression it has more air in the same place to jump the gap and that is also the point the plug has to fire.If the coil is weak, or some other problem is not letting the coil have enough juice to fire the plugs then it wil run bad or even die at low speed.

Welllll llll the answer to your question kinda depends on HOW BAD THE BATTERY IS PLUS HOW BAD THE CHARGING SYSTEM MAY BE..... That being said it takes a pretty bad battery (if its a coil ignition instead of a magneto which dont need or use the battery) and a non working charging system to cause her to run poory cuz of ignition given the whole ignition system (plugs n points n condensor n wires n cap etc etc) are all okay.

I agree with the good gents below, Id worry about a good general ignition tune up first (plugs points condensor cap n rotor n wires) and then replace the battery n repair any charging problems as needed next

Your questions just too wide open and theres just tooooo many causes of poor running to be able to provide much help for now until you do some diagnostic troubleshooting to narrow down the problem

I'll add to Hal's comments that if it seems to turn pretty slow, but still starts, it isn't likely to be the battery. The current flowing to the coil when running is about 3-4 amps. The battery can put this much out for a whole day of operation if it is not restarted repeatedly.

The starter motor, (if the battery was weak enough to cause running issues) when starting the tractor, would lower the voltage to the coil so much that it would not re-start. I think a battery and charging system check is a good plan, but I further believe it needs a good tune-up and valve adjustment. JimN

If you you have battery ignition with a distributor you need constant voltage fed to the coil. Have the battery checked to see if it has a weak cell and check your charging system to make sure its working so it will keep the battery charged. If you have a magneto it doesn't require battery voltage as it creates its own voltage when the magnets pass by the coil. Hal
