Very happy that I finally got my F-20 engine fired up after working on it for three long years. Wanted to thank everyone for all of help and I've attached a video for you guys to enjoy. Now I just have to finish the rest of it. Thanks again.

Yup, that's me. It's been a long road but so far everything has worked out. You F-20 guys got the Mag advance down pat? I noticed when I messed with the mag advance rod the engine would rattle or slightly knock if I advanced the mag all the way during idle. I'm guessing that would be some pre-ignition? Any guidance, don't want to ruin my new motor!!!

If your are timed right to start with full advance should only been used when you have the engine wound up and loaded. If you speed the engine up a little and advance the spark it will reach a point where it will start to run a little "fluffy", I back up a little and leave it there for general fooling around.

I'm not sure what the rod bolts were torqued to. I actually had my machine shop install the rods and mess with the babbitt bearings. Something I was worried I was going to screw up. Everything else besides turning the crank and rebuilding the head I did.

I saw your photos, but my stupid dial up internet won't load the video. I'll bet it runs great though!

Good luck finishing it and glad to hear you got it running!

Andy.
