Been thinking of buying a used no till drill for pasture seeding. Have no familiarity with them. What are good things to look for in a drill or would be a good machine to look for?

Around here, the folks (Farmer's Co-OP and fertilizer dealers, etc.) that sell the seed and fertilizer rent these drills. The charge is nominal if you buy the seed and fertilizer from them. Unless you have a lot to do, certainly would not be worth buying one.

Our soil and water conservation district has 2 Great Plains no-til drills. One is a 7 ft and the other one is a 10 foot. They have grass seeding attachments. They both work great. The small one cost about $20,000 and not sure about the big one. The 7 foot reslly loads a Farmall "M" The big one is hard to move on the road. I have only used the little one and have always gotten a good stand.

Yes they are. We also have one. I think they do a good job, but you'll get to know your parts guy at the Deere store real well. Everything green is like that though.

I used one for two years and it was terrible. It may be good for grass but I hated it for beans and oats and wheat and corn. It is still sitting on the farm where it ended up. He wont use it either.
