SMTA hydraulic pump pressure

Ed put a loader on his SMTA that had been on a JD A. The loader will not lift heavy loads like it did when on the JD. He checked the pressure with a gauge that hooked up to the QD. He remembers that the pressure was between 1200 and 1400 lbs. He was wondering if this is the correct pressure for a Thompson pump #362 175 R94?
Or does he need different rams? They don't leak down. Are some rams not compatiable with some pumps?
Thank you
SDE

The IH live pumps were rated around 1200 psi...

Not according to my book. SMTA at 750 to 1000 and 400/450 at 1200 to 1500 lbs. This is what my books are showing. Never had an SMTA so I don't know what they would test.

George you are correct that the original SM,SMTA tractors with live hydraulic used the same relief valve in the lift all unit as later M used in the belley pump,so pressures would be near the same. So if the relief valve has never been bumped up and the hydraulic is plumbed so that the relief valve is controling pressure the posters pressure could be 800 or less with wear.

There was a upgrade on the pressure relief to up it to the 1250 . For loader work and the lifting of heavier equipment like pickers . Now since i realy don't know Deeres i do not know what they put out for pressure as i have never checked one of them . But i am thinking that the rams on a deere loader are smaller then what I H put on theres for that time frame and even if it is only a half inch smaller in dia. then it will now lift much . Ya got to rememner that they were only made for loading out manaur and moving snow . as most had the bolt on snow bucket . Also on some loader ya had to add and extra rev. for extra oil . As like on some of the I H loader they used the one side of the lift cylinders for this .

If I remember correctly, the loader was on an AC first, then fitted to a JD. The JD had an after market pump on the back fitted to the PowerTrol (???). I will check and see if the hydraulic resevoir may be the problem. As it is right now he can only get about half a bucket of snow about a foot high.
Thank you SDE

Oh ok that explains it all now that we have all the duckies in the same pond . Old Allie Cats used High pressure hyd. like around 2000 lbs or better and if the old Putt putt had a PTO driven pump they usually run up in the neighborhood of 23-2450 Lbs. of pressure and a meer 1200-1400 ain't ah going to much. So either ya put a PTO pump on it or change cylinders or get a loader made for a Red tractor.

That is what Ed thought might have been the problem. Thank you very much T.V.

I figured there may have been as I done that to my 666. I think it was around 1600 lbs to start with and I replaced the pressure relief valve with one for 2500 lbs. Made the loader twice as strong it seemed.

SMTA only produces 750 to 1000 lbs pressure.
