Is the Tisco Red and Silver paint the right color? One guy on here said some colors have an orange tint to them. I would like to know if the Tisco paint is like the original. How much paint will I need to paint a Farmall M?

If you are going to use an 8:1:1 enamel you'll need roughly a gallon and a half to two gallons depending upon how many coats you need to apply. A gallon of primer mixed 8:1 should get the job done also.

IF you are going to shoot a PPG Acrylic Urethane mixed 4:2:1 you'll need about a gallon and a quart and you'll have a good portion of the quart left over after applying the 2nd coat. 1 gallon of DPLF epoxy primer mixed 2:1 req'd.

I've painted em both ways (depends on my intended use and customers desires) and it is better to have too much than not enough....

The PPG 2150 equivalent (71310) does have an orange tint as you can see by my 1950 M. It isn't that noticable in the photo but in bright sunlight you can see it... gray primer was used beneath.

The 350 I just finished is CIH 2150 enamel.... it's pretty red... no noticable orange like my M when in the sunlight. mustard yellow primer beneath

Also be aware that the primer color you apply can slightly modify the tint of the paint.

Far as I'm concerned you cannot match the original color. 2150 is the one with the orange tint, it was used on 1961 and later tractors. If your M was made before mid 1949 the "correct" color is IH 50/PPG 70093/DuPont 7410. IH 50 is not sold by Case-IH. If after 1949, IH 1102 -- good luck finding that one. I don't know what number Tisco matches, it is low quality paint. I am reasonable sure that NO commercially available paint is "correct" for your tractor, the old colors simply do not exist anymore. What I do is have the paint mixer substitute red for some of the orange in PPG 71310, the PPG 2150 equivalent. If you do that you can get whatever color you prefer.

For best results go to Case IH dealer and use 2150 red, silver is silver.
