How to test a hyd T/A . If the T/A is just starting to go south or out to lunch They will always work in low range in any of the lower 4 gears and may even work what seams well in 1 or even 2 high . Get it out on the road and in either 3rd high or even 4 th high with the T/A in the high side and under full power start loading the tractor with BOTH brakes and bring the engine down to around 1500 under a hard pull now place your left foot real close to the clutch and be ready to stomp the clutch down NOW pull the T/A lever back into the low side fast , Oh you may want to put the seat belt on to keep ya from going thru the windsheild as if it is going out she will stop dead in her tracks FAST and if it does then stomp the clutch down as they can grab with out warning and throw ya out the back and stand the ft. end stright up in the air . IF it stops dead in her tracks then Yep the T/A is out . Nothing money won't fix , But be warned to be ready to find more then just a bad T/A when ya open here up . As over the years i have found that on the higher Hp. tractors that you may be putting in tranny gears and shafts like i did on mine when i got her And the one i bought was a one owner with just 4000 hrs and it was the first time this tractor was ever split .

Run the tractor for an hour or more to get it warm. Start out from a stop in High gear, pretty much full throttle with the TA back and let the clutch out with good speed. (be sure to have room ahead) when going well, apply the brakes and bring the tractor to a stall. This will load the TA, and test the brakes as well. JimN
