Good day Gents, On the back left of the hydraulic reservoir, just ahead of the shifter are 2 - 1/2"NPT? plugged ports on my SMTA, and I would assume on P2 SH's and SM's. Can anyone tell me what they are? If they are for remote hydraulic lines how are they controlled? I would just like to add I've been reading post all summer and they (the users of this forum) have been a great help as I turned good green money into old red iron. thanks Andy

Wardner is right on the delayed action on the rear lower outlet. I looked at the box today, & it does have a 3/8 pipe plug on upper left side at the rear. Vent & return hoses plumb into the front upper left port. Run the tractor, & never look close at details. Dum-de-dum-dum. Sorry.

I believe those are delayed lift ports for use with cultivators. They would be activated with the pull handle to the right of the steering wheel.

I have three ports on my SMTAs. I presume the single port activates right away. The paired ports go to the rear implement and take a second or two to activate. This would be similar to the earlier style Liftall.

An operator's manual would have the info.

Ours only had 1 port on the side of the box when it was new. The loader cylinder return hoses were TEED into this port along with the filler cap. It always shot oil out of the vent/ filler cap when using the loader. WE took the hydraulic box off & drilled & tapped a hole on top of the box for the vent/ filler cap. No more problems. This is probably what the 2 ports are for on your MTA. Just holler if you have more questions.

Just some more info on the ports' location. As I said before they are ahead of the shifter, and are to the right of the clutch pedal, and below the starter and choke control rod ends. thanks in advance for any help.

Brownie, - I don't think we're talking about the same port. The port with the filler cap is more forward on the left side, the ports I'm stuck on are on the left hand side of the back of the reservoir and are raised casting. I think I saw a diagram of the res. once and their is a valve inside it, but unclear what it did. thanks anyhow
