Just removed my pulley on my F-20N a month or so back with no problems. You will have enough clearance to remove the pulley. First time I ever repacked a seal like that. Went well, and very easy to do.

Hi Oldiron, take the pulley and drive off as a unit. People have told me that you also have to double-nut and remove the studs that hold the drive on to get clearance on the 20. I don't know that for a fact, last week I changed out the drive assembly on my F30NT without removing the studs. Don't forget to knock the nut on the pulley loose before you remove the assembly, it is much easier to drop it in gear to hold it than it is to hold it on the bench.

unforgiven, I think there is about 3" of space to clear rear final drive I already have pully nut loose. I will look tomorrow but I think the houseing has bolts not studs. How long is the gear or shaft in tranny? Thanks oldiron29

Yeah, about three inches. The coupling for the drive barely sticks out of the housing when it's off. There is also a cast cap that fits over the hole and coupling if you don't need the pulley, so yeah, the coupling is right there. If you can get over the studs it will come right off, keep it level and turn it towards the rear of the tractor. The 20 and 30 had studs originally, but that does not mean yours does. The studs at ten and two o'clock were out on mine, but just because they stuck to the nut and came out that way. Maybe someone changed yours to facilitate removal?

And come to think of it, the bolts at 10 and 2 won't mean much to you, the 30 has six of them and your 20 has four.
