350U T/A Question

I"ve asked this question before, but its been four years. I bought a rebuilt sprague T/A from Steel Wheel Ranch to go in my 350U. I"ve got a I&T shop manual that tells how to replace it but it seems pretty vague. Once I get in there, is it pretty self explanatory? One out one in situation? Splitting the tractor is not a problem. I"ve been there done that many times, just not on a number series. Also, I was told that sometimes you get one that needs to be shimmed (like one out of a hundred). Anything to this? I"m going to start on it this weekend, so I"m sure I"ll have more questions before I"m through. I had pretty much given up on it until a man that I work with said he has a place and equipment to work on it with. So I thought I"d give it a shot. Thanks, Todd.

The t/a"s that I build are core except for the heavy duty version with a modified ramp. Some of those need shimmed but I"ve never heard of a standard oem t/a needing anything.

I also have a 350u with a t/a problem. I have to hold the lever back to make it work. Is that just an adjustment problem? Saw the post and didn't mean to horn in.

As long as the t/a works while you are holding it back it's probably an adjustment problem.
