As some of you know, i had a post about this cub last week. Saturday night i checked it over again and still no go. Sitting there thinking, i remembered that most times when we do a 10-20 or w-30,etc. they are somewhat hard to spin over at first, so we usually belt start them. I put a good 12 volt battery on in place of the 6 as it is a mag tractor. It spun over quite fast then, and i noticed the suction at the choke end of the carb was extreme. I turned it over for about five seconds three times and on the third try IT TOOK OFF!!!!! !!!!! After break-in running, it would start easily on the 6 volt battery. This was all after several weeks of triple checking many things on tuesday evenings and saturday nights. I THINK that POSSIBLY the two fellahs that overhauled it did not put a whole lot of oil on the pistons and rings. We did suspect that and squirted some oil in the cylinders early on, but a weak mag at that time and slow turning over with the 6 volt battery may have been the problem. After the mag rebuild, it still turned over slowly, and i guess too slow for initial startup. Thanks to all who contributed ideas, cubs may be okay afterall, we just needed to belt up or spinner over without the plugs in for a while. :^D

Might also look at the impulse coupler (or maybe bail some light lube to it while the engine is running) on the mag in case it's been sticking to where it won't fire right at a low cranking speed.
