Hi. I'm not a mechanic. i put a rebuilt carb on my M. i followed the Service manual etc. i got the tractor running, but it races wildly to the point I'm afraid it'll blow the engine. turning the "main adjustment screw' doesn't seem to help. Turning the idle adjustment screw doesn't seem to work. I have no idea what the "idle throttle stop screw" does. The manual doesn't tell how to get the idle speed to 435 rpm. Clockwise? counterclockwise? Idle adjusting screw? idle throttle stop screw?

Thanks for any ideas.

Do not run it.
There is a little tang in the joint between the carb and the shaft from the governor (where it bolts on to the carb. That tang fits between two metal fingers. It is tricky to get in to place, but that is your problem. Take it apart at the connection and re fit the tab. JimN
