I bought a clean 444 today with supposed engine problems,a diesel. I have a 474 salvage tractor that is rough, but a runner. What 474 parts are compatible with the 444? Maybe the engine? I'd love to use the 444 as its a perfect size for a chore tractor.

They are 2 different animals, the 414 is an old I.H.C. Great Britian design and build, made at Bradford in Yorkshire. The 474 was one of the new World series tractors, built at the Doncaster tractor plants with a I.H.C. Germany engine. What you need is a 354 or the later 384 which was the last of the old "Bradford" designed tractors.

If we"re talking British 444 verus 474 I"d say very little in common,

444 8F/2R dual clutch PTO, BD154(?) 4 cyl diesel (British IH)

474 8F/4R D206 4 cyl diesel single clutch, hydraulic PTO, 4 cyl diesel (World IH)

Can"t comment on it the belt housings are the same, but I doubt it. Not aware of any of the german IH motors in the "british" IHs.
