I recently purchased a 1947 Farmall A It still has the 6 v0lt system. It is not charging so I now have it in the rebuild shop . My question is does anyone know where I can get the resistor for the light -charging switch it has the light switch with low and high charge and the resistor is shot. Thanks in advance for any help.

From a good electronics shop, (or the web) get a 3 ohm 60W resistor. It will be pretty big, and ceramic wire wound. This can be wired in in place of the original. Another source is the blower resistors found in the heater motor speed circuits in all older cars. The resistor block has (usually) three resistors. One of these approximates 3 ohms. These must be crimped into place, not soldered (like the ceramic one) They all get hot, they should be located to avoid interference with plastic wire insulation, and grounds. Good luck, JimN
