If you remember me, then you probably remember a little bit about my tractor. The house light switch that I used for an ignition switch is now gone forever and a new plunger type complements of e-bay is in it's place. The tractor now lives indoors with the runners having been saved from it's two year stint in the fence row where it sat while it stubbornly refused to cooperate with my attempts to fix it. Very satisfying!!!

Now I am on a light hunt! What am I looking for? Most used lights are 6V but I am thinking that is only the bulb. I am also thinking that I need the bullet shaped lights and not those kinda flat backed ones I see from time to time. Are original lights repairable if they are not working or am I taking a big risk on used lights.
I know some look askance at my efforts to save a buck but I like to fix stuff and hate the look of a new item on an old tractor.....and I like to save a buck. So are used ones OK and are the bullets the way to go? (1945 Farmall B)

Thanks guys!

Yes, the teardrop lights are correct. You can buy new ones for about $50 each or you can repair your old ones if they are not too bad. I use chrome spray paint to refurb the reflectors. There is, or should be, a small blade of metal riveted to the housing of the light and touching the back of the reflector that is the ground for the bulb. This is very important and the bulb will not light without it. You can buy these new and I have not had success trying to fabricate one. Also, spend the extra bucks to get the correct bulbs from Case/IH dealer. They were $5 each last time I bought them but they are twice as bright as any other bulb you will use. Dave

I buy old lights and fix them up all the time. Nothing to it. If you go 12v or 6v just put in the correct bulb. The bullet light is correct. The flat back or sealed beam ones are from the Super's in 53 or later.

The bullet style would be correct. You can get good ones on ebay. Before you bid ask the seller if the reflectors are bright and also ask about the amount of rust. Repairs are available from OEM and others.
