I am having trouble with the engine racing on its" own. There is approximately 1/4 inch play in the linkage to the govenor. Any suggestions or adjustments you recommend?

Thank You.

First get the play out of the linkage. That may take new rods, or clevises, or pins. (with it shut OFF), move the throttle plate to wide open, the lever on the operator platform to wide open, and adjust the link to fit exactly. Then move the operating lever to idle and make sure it does go back to idle. If it continues to race, it needs the governor rebuilt/repaired. JimN
