Went to parts store to get a new radiator cap for my cub. The man asked me if I needed a pressurized or non pressurized cap. It did not come with one when I bought it. How can I tell which one it takes, or needs? THANKS

The non pressure cap will look like a gascap. Its little fingers will fit into internal slots.
the pressure caps will have external slots (like a car pressure cap) and look nuch more like a regular radiator cap, with a spring and rubber seal on the end. JimN

when i got a new cap for my 52 cub, i think the dealer said there were 3 possible caps to fit the radiator. one was for a non pressurized system, the other two were for a pressurized system. the two pressure caps, one of them had a longer stem that went a little deeper in the top of the radiator. mine took the longer cap. been a while since i bought it, but measure the neck on the radiator from the top where the cap sits to where the gasket sits.

Later Cubs did use a preassure cap. Find a parts catalog and identify the cap you need by serial number.

Short Bolt; The "Cub" uses a siphon system on it's radiators, so no water pump, no pressure, no thermostat...very simple set-up. So get a non pressure cap and your'e good to go ! Best of luck. Jim B.
