Currently I am working a 1206 and am in the process of replacing the TA. As I am researching pricing from different suppliers and Case/IH dealership I have noticed a number of differences. First is the Mechanical Diode TA offered from Case/IH a truly superior than the original hydraulic clutch TA. Second, is there any one else who makes an aftermarket Mechanical Diode and or who sells a quality regular clutch TA.

Thanks
Jeff

Don't put a Mechanical Diode TA in, they don't last. I have a friend that has had several fail in his 1486 and had to trade it off on a 7120 so he could get his beans planted. He is sending in his 986 that has had on diode TA go out and is waiting at the dealership to have it replaced again for the second time. I also have a good customer that had at least 4 of them in his 1586. He had to by a different tractor to get his corn planted while his 15 was in the shop. I would put a good TA in from a aftermarket suppler with the wider Renould sprag

Now from what i have seen and unless they have got all the bugs out of them now Myself i will not use one . When i had the shop open and were doing them i installed Hy. Capacity products and to this day all that i installed as still going strong . WHere as the one that were being installed at the local Case I H store were not doing so well . If a T/A is installed properly then they will last many years . Do you know about setting end play? do you know about going thru the MCV or setting the end play on the bottom shaft and shiming the lower shaft gears . Flow rating the MCV pump setting pressures . Doing the job is not just droppen in a new unit.

Flow rate the MCV settings? Wouldn't you do that when you calibrate the sprag?

Calibrate the sprag? What is that? My t/a"s come with endplay intstuctions and t/a installation tips but tractor vet is correct, you just don"t drop in a t/a and put the tractor back together. Make it worth the time and money to be sure that everything is right. Not to mention all of the gear, shafts and direct drive or quill end inspections.

Kevin,What sprag do you use in your TA's? Are you using the wider Renould sprag or the cheaper narrower (weaker) sprag.
