I"ve often wondered and thought it would be neat to repower a 350 or an H with an engine from a 460 and wondered if it could be done. I know engines from 560 and up will fit an M and so on, but never seen it done to a H or 350. I"m am mostly curious if the engine would fit the bellhousing and if the clutch and such would line up? Would the engine even fit heigthwise or would it interfere with the steering shaft?

Just think this would be a neat conversation piece and for parades and such if it could be done. What"s the consensus on this?

thanks for the responses guys. Have an old H here that the motor is missing quite a few parts on. Maybe I can pick up a 460 engine for about the same as the parts missing on the H engine. Should be interesting if I do it.

Thanks again

It can be done. Should be a swap right out for a 300-350,,, For a H, you have to swap out the starter ring, pilot bearing and clutch disk for it to drop in a H. H thru 460 is the exact same bellhousing bolt pattern. As for frame rails and a front bolster, 460 rails bolt right on the H-350 bellhousing, it takes it out to the same width as the M -560 frame rails, so possibly put on a M front end for overhead steering. I built one up as a 460,,, when it was done, had alot of power, ended up sellin it. ChadS ChadS3@hotmail.com or www.thetractorshop.com

Why not just stretch the H, SH, 300 or 350 sheet metal over a 460 chassis, at least you'd still have live hydraulics. No place for a SH, 300 or 350 live hydraulic pump on a 460 engine.
