Won't be long and I will need to be ordering a complete rebuild kit for my 50 H. I see prices that are all over the place from $200+ for each piston to $500 for a complete overhaul kit.

Is the kit on this site good quality

Are these parts made in China? I am not looking for cheap quality, but want the most bang for my buck.

Any recomendations on where to buy my rebuild kit?

Thanks

Randy

While I agree with supporting this site for obvious reasons, better to check with the machine shop before bringing your parts in. The machine shop I use will only use parts from their own suppliers because they want quality control from someone they can go back to.

Randy, engine kits can be a bit confusing. The prices vary according to what all is included in the kit. The kit that includes absolutely everything naturally is the highest priced, but with that kit you need to know precisely which size bearings you need before you order it, and the only way you are going to know is if you take the crankshaft to a machine shop and have it checked and measured. More than likely the crankshaft will need to be turned down, which will require undersized bearings. If the crank does need turned, the machine shop can get the bearings needed at a very reasonable cost, so you may as well buy the kit without the bearings. Likewise the pin bushings in the connecting rods. Installing the new bushings is NOT a do it yourself job, so you may as well buy the basic kit that includes the pistons, pins, sleeves, and gaskets, and let the machine shop take care of the rest of it.

Try weberstractorworks.com to see if they have kits. You can call them at 815-389-1493. They have a lot of kits listed, but I didn't see one for an H. Hal

I bought my parts from this site to rebuild my H and I am satisfied. As far as I can remember they were not foreign. Ask when ordering, I am sure they will tell you. I enjoy this site and support it if I can. I don't know of anyother company that puts the time and money into a site to help others. Even if some things may cost a little more, what you get from this site is invalueable. Bill

Good morning!
Hey you have a nice shop! Look to the left for the on line store and see what they have to offer. Prices are pretty decent.

I have been rebuilding my '44 H for about a year now. I bought my rebuild kit from YT and was very satisfied with it. I did not turn the crank down, as it was in pretty good shape. The rings, pistons, gaskets were all very easy to work with. The guy I spoke too at YT helped me alot on helping to see what I needed. My 2 cents. Love the shop!!!
