Hello all,

I hope to sink my recently aquired 311 3 - 14's plow into the ground this weekend using my 460 U. It has the power adjust wheels. I was wondering how wide I should put the stance to accomodat effective plowing. Can anyone help me out? I don't have a manual for the plow I wish I did.

TIA

Butch

Operation care and repair of farm machinery book says 25 1/2" from center of tractor to inside of right rear wheel.

Butch: Len is basically correct, although you do have a bit of leway. Plows pull the easiest if the center line of plow draft is centered on tractor, quite important if your plowing with 15 hp or less per bottom.

With a 3-14 plow I think you will probably need to have your wheels set in as far as they go. The 3-14's is 42 inches wide so to keep your wheel in the furrow the inside of the tire should be about twenty one inches from center.

Set your right wheel tread so that inside of sidewall is about 14 in to the right of the first bottom's shin. (or 14 and 3/4 from where first coulter cuts).

When I do it with a plow that I have no info on I set it up so my inside tire would ride in the furrow and the first landslide behind it dumps it's load over my tire track in that furrow...if that makes sense. Doesn't much matter how many bottoms.
