Hey, I've got a crazy idea...

I have this belt pulley from an M. It's a neat spoked hub design with wood for the pulley material. Once I sand the wood, varish it, and paint the hub I think it will look great. The problem is, the hub is larger than the hub on my H.
idea: replace the end hub part (the wheel itself) from the H with an M wheel.
Will it fit? Will it work? Inquiring minds want to know!

If it has this cast in number on it it is from an F-12... 2942DA . I think a cast pulley off a 10-20 has splines on the inside.

RustyFarmall said: It is not wood. It is paper. With a little work I think you should be able to make it look like wood, but it will take some work. BUT, The H and the M have the same size hub, and while the M USUALLY used a larger diameter pulley than the H, the two different sizes will interchange with each other, SO, the pulley you have must be from something other than either an H or an M. I think the F-20/F-30 used a spoked pulley, maybe that is what it is from?

hmmm Good to know. I assumed it was from an M because it came from a box of parts presumably from an M.

So, I guess this won't work, because the diameter isn't even close.

I believe the standard pulley on the H was smaller than the standard pulley on the M because the H pulley turns more RPM. I guess due to the gearing arrangement. The pulleys can change between the H and M and several sizes were available for each. It just depends what belt speed you need. If you are not going to run anything with the belt pulley, the pulley size does not matter. Your pulley sounds like that it was originally a paper pulley and someone reworked it with wood, by cutting circles and glueing them toqether.

Hey Mike, are you sure it is not a paper pulley? I think different sizes where options on H's and M's. Mine is a cast iron one and seems bigger than a lot of pulleys I see. Guess it depended on how fast you needed to turn whatever you where belted to. I sure someone will know better than I.
