I need to take transmisson top off.I have taken the 3/8 bolts out, shifter and seat off. The front and back of the top will pry up but sides are stuck tight. It has two threaded bolts on each on each side where it seems to be stuck. My question is,does the top slide up off of them or do those bolts/studs have to be removed before top will come off? Thanks for any help.

I've found that if you will put a couple of flat or lock washers under the nut on those dowel pins, you will have more success. You will have to back the nut off and add more washers to get the dowel completely out.

Those are most likely the dowel pins that locate the cover properly.

Find nuts that fit on them and buzz them down with an impact wrench - they should pull out.

If they don't pull out, put a vice grip on the nut and try tapping them out/up with a hammer.
