My Dad and I just went through the top end of the engine after the lifter rods gave up. We rebuilt the head, new valves, new lifters....went driving around the other day and on low idle there"s a rhythmic air hiss coming from the engine.

We had to peen a few of the rocker assemblies since the ground part is press fit into the rest of it.....some of them were loose. No loss of power, no knocking, sounds fine....anybody know what it might be??? Thanks.

I set the valves by the book using two pieces of tooling stock....020 and .025. I really do think it is a slight leak in the nozzle where the bronze washer goes around it. Might have some dirt or something in there.

If you had the nozzles out it is probably one of those not sealing. Just squirt something in around them while its running and you will probably find which one. Pull it out and reclean the seat and regasket it.

Yeah we did have the nozzles out. I'm betting your right. We did put new seals on the nozzles but maybe its faulty. Thanks for the response!!!

another thing you could check is to make sure you got all the washers out.
