I would like to install live hydraulics on my 51 M. I have seen pictures of a super M and some H's which have a pump mounted just before the distributer. Is it possible to purchase a like pump and fit it to my M? And if so where do I start looking for the parts?

Thanks, Steve

NYFD said: (quoted from post at 07:24:41 10/08/07) I have a Good M&W live pump, for a Farmall M.

Could you also post pictures of your setup. I am interested in all the pictures I can get. It helps me get ideas so that the finished product does not look like a spider web.

Thank you Steve

Hi Steven,

I would like to send you some pics, of the pump, but I don't have a Digital Camera. I'm going to get one, tho!

You do know the M&W pump is for a M Diesel, don't you?
*************

Chuck46: What I meant by turning the drive gear over was, take the big nut off, pull the gear off, flip it up-side-down and back on.... I don't know if that would work or not, that was just what I was told.... I'll check that out tomorrow... Thanks, Steve and Chuck 4 your reply.

Did not know that the M & W pump was for the Diesel. What is the difference between the two?

Steve: The M&W pump will work on the M Diesel or M Gas engine... The only thing is the Diesel engine turns CCW and the Gas turns CW... If the drive (52927DA) gear was swapped for the gas (*******) Gear, it should work.... Cause this pump, will pump, <--- * ---> in both directions.

There is a M&W pump for a W6 or Super M on eBay... I don't know if it will fit your M or not.... Just go to Google, type in "M&W LIVE PUMP" Without the ("") Quotes and you'll see it.

If you decide to look for a live pump watch ebay. They are on there very often and usually go for a reasonable price.

I checked the M&W Live Pump I have, and its for a MD... Now, is it TRUE, you can turn the drive gear over and it will work on a gas M etc? I was also told, the pump, will pump, both CW and CCW. Is this TRUE?

Thanks!

Hi NYFD, I have been told that M&W pump 205px will work either direction, there was a very recent post with a 204px that had a direction arrow on it. I am not sure what you mean by turn the gear over but I am sure the gas and diesel gears do not interchange. Good luck, Chuck

Kirk,Could you please post a picture of the pump. I would like to see how it is configured. I am not too sure if I have to have an adapter or if the pump comes with one or if it is part of the casting.

Thanks, Steve

I think another consideration is the cam gear there is a serial number split (I think in 51) that prior to this number, the gear will fail driving both a pump and the low load distributor or mag. JimN

Good comment on the cam gear. That is something that I will consider deeply. Still not too sure if I am going to get the loader that I want the live hydraulics for or not.

Will the belly pump push enough fluid and have enough pressure to work a loader?

It depends on the cylinder diameter, 2.5 to 3" lift cylinders will lift well, but might be considered slow by today's standards. JimN

Yes one will bolt right up. They are available to the left of page from YT. About 650 bucks for one. A used one from the SM/400/450 will also work. You will have to rig the belly pump for a resivoir or add one.
